Defining Uncertainty Competence and Identification of Critical Points
Mapping the Skills for a VUCA World
To solve a problem, we must first define it. TRIC focuses on the intellectual and research-based foundation of the TRIC project. We live in a world of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA), yet our educational systems often still focus on predictable outcomes. This work package bridges that gap.
Key Objectives & Activities:
-
Defining the Competence: Through extensive desk research and stakeholder dialogue, we identify the exact knowledge, skills, and attitudes that constitute "Uncertainty Competence." We move beyond the concept of resilience to define a proactive "Growth Mindset."
-
Identifying Critical Points: We engage directly with young adults and educators to pinpoint the specific moments—such as transitioning from study to work—where uncertainty feels most overwhelming.
-
Stakeholder Engagement: Conducting interviews and workshops across participating regions to ensure our definitions reflect the diverse realities of European labor markets and educational landscapes.
-
Analytical Framework: Creating a systematic taxonomy of skills that can be integrated into future curricula and workplace strategies.
TRIC ensures that every tool and method developed later in the project is evidence-based and addresses the real-world "wicked problems" our target groups face.
